So i've got an upgrade for Verizon but I can't afford a Note 4. Will a Note 3 last for two years?

Yes. The Hardware will certainly last, and be competitive; and is powerful enough to handle any future OS upgrades, which are becoming more efficient anyway.

Support - wise, they say in General devices will be supported for 2 years, ie they will be given the latest release at least until then.

The phone will continue to work when OS upgrades are no longer geared for the Note 3 by Samsung and Verizon, and most apps continue to update for older systems now.

There are a good percentage of devices running Android 2.3 - 4.1 or older, albeit less highly specced than the current and outgoing flagship models.

It would be a shame if you missed a deal on the Note 4 though, and found the price difference was not much after all. I guess the longer you can wait...

This is more my opinion based on reading others experiences though. The Note 3 will have been out 2 years in October.

^ I second this. I'm on my 3rd Note 3. I try other phones and even have upgraded to the Note 4 (traded my precious Note 3 in for it) but loved the Note 3 so much I went and got another one. It's a great device and it complements my Note 4 nicely.

The device will probably not go beyond a 5.0.x variant. If you are comfortable with that, then go for it. Otherwise, it should be a solid device for quite some time.

You could most likely find a nice deal on Swappa that would make the last gen worth it. Around $350 or so.
