Why do I need to mount my sim card before switching to a new phone?

Not sure what you mean. You should turn the old phone off, remove the sim, then put the sim in the new phone. You don't need to mount a sim card, though I would only install and uninstall it from a phone that is powered off

I was thinking the same thing. Never heard of mounting a SIM card. Mounting/unmounting and SD card, yes, but not a SIM.
