You know that just shows how to factory reset in Recovery Mode.
If so it's nice to have a video link for a change.
I would do one myself, but my modelling agent would charge AC a fortune.

I figured this was the only way, unless there's some other Samsung way to do it.

I think it may be the only way.

It seems to be another locked screen password issue with S5's / 6 / Notes, this time because of failing fingerprint scanners, or people genuinely forget they set an alternate backup password - I don't know.

I wouldn't bother with a fingerprint scanner if I get one.

OK I see this as being a great way to get back in your phone.
I have one big problem with this what is the point of a lock on your phone...I know by doing this no personal information is available that is good but if this is known by an average person it can promote theft cos is just that easy.
One area where iPhone has android beat...icloud lock is nearly impossible to brake

The point of the screen lock is to protect your information. If someone else steals the phone, they can do a factory reset and wipe the data, then try to use the phone as their own, but they can't access your data. And if the owner reports the phone as stolen, the wireless company will blacklist the IMEI, rendering the phone useless as a phone.

Blacklisted phone can be used in other areas of the world and as for Android IMEI can be easily changed... Just saying that android should have a better understanding of security

So this just happened to me and I know the solution. If you have a google/gmail account then your email/Google password should be your backup password. It worked for me but not sure if it was a coincidence or not

Hope this helps whoever has this issue!!

Hello, this happend to me also a couple of weeks ago. If you registered your Note (3, 4 or 5) with Samsung you can use the "Find My Phone" feature via Samsung's website which also has a selection to "Unlock" your smartphone.

I hope that helps and good luck!

rrabago Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

I added a few more fingerprints, was distracted and ignored the password. Then was too busy with new finger scan bypass that then popped up each time I wanted to access my phone, so I did a restart, thinking that would clear it. Only to find out that my Samsung Note 4 would not read any fingerprints and had locked itself, aaaaaaaarrrrrrggghhh!

I came across your post. Went to the Samsung Find My Mobile and on the off chance entered my main email address, reset password. Then I was in. In 1 click I was able to unlock.

I was fortunate that 16 months ago when I purchased the device I went to the trouble of setting up the account. I have no recollection having done so, nor paper record of it. But 'past tense me' was on to it

I was not looking forward to a hard factory reset. Although I had only days earlier backed up my photos and vids.
