My Galaxy s2 recently died after a trip into some water. I have been an Optus prepaid customer in Australia for years and years. When I went into an Optus store the salesperson told me I could pay $40 a month for an s4 and it would be EXACTLY the amount of usage I was getting on my prepaid device (I was paying $30 per month for prepaid) and I could get a new handset . I said I liked prepaid because I got free social media. He told me this wasn't the case and 500mb would be SO MUCH data.

I've come home and just setting up my phone I've apparently used 95mb already. I'm currently in panic mode. Did I just get swindled?

Welcome to Android Central! 500 MB can be used up relatively quickly, depending on how much you use web services. It is by no means a lot of data, so unless you told him that you hardly ever access the web, then the sales guy was not being particularly forthcoming (or maybe he just wasn't very smart).
