If you're asking about free RAM, check that in Settings, Apps, Running.
If you're asking about free internal storage, check that in Settings, Storage.

Welcome to Android Central! It probably varies with the carrier, since some carriers will shove more bloatware down your throat than others. According to some sources I found on the web, you should have around 11 GB of free internal storage. That's considered storage ROM, not RAM. RAM is what is used by the system to keep active apps open, and on the S3 is 1 GB.
