How do I block spam mail from my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and my yahoo account?

I can also access my yahoo email from my computer and the "trashy" emails aren't there, just on my phone. This just started about a month ago. I have tried "creating a filtering rule" and am up to nearly 500 rules, but I am still getting emails from the same addresses. I have "unsubscribed" to many, even though I didn't subscribe to them in the first place. This is very frustrating for me.

Welcome to Android Central! Unsubscribing is a sure way to get more spam. It shows them that they reached a real live email address that they can bombard with more spam.

How are you accessing Yahoo Mail on your phone? Using the Yahoo Mail app, or the stock Email app? If the latter, do you know if you're using the POP3 server or the IMAP server? POP3 doesn't allow for folder structure, so it blasts in all email from your account, including spam.
