Is there a way to text using WiFi without having to use a third-party app like Hangout? Texting works great when there is a mobile network available, but at home there is no cell service (can't make calls). Friends with iPhones have been able to text from my house once they have the WiFi key, without having to do anything differently...

Well if they can, why can't you? I don't see the problem. Is your phone unable to connect to your Wifi?

If they are using iMessage, then they are using an app like Hangouts.

Yes, I can use the Moto to access Internet from home via WiFi, that's why it's so frustrating...I do have Hangouts installed, and tried texting a friend just now, but since she doesn't have Hangouts she hasn't received the message...

I am not aware of any other app that can send a standard text over WiFi. Maybe Textra?
