How can i retrieve my broken phone's photos?

So I embarrassingly went surfing with my phone in my pocket, which didn't get along with the saltwater so well...I cleaned it out with fresh water as apparently it will erode less quickly as the salt is removed, dried it then tried to boot it up. Unsurprisingly it didnt work, however i noticed the LED was flashing when i plugged it in, and my computer recognised it. I assumed from this the screen was the only broken part. So now I believe the only thing restricting me from accessing these photos is the inability to enter my pattern lock. Is there, at all, any way to attempt to retrieve these photos? Most are backed up but there are some i'll miss.....any ideas at all greatly appreciated. If it makes a difference, its a Sony Xperia SL, running (I think) Android 4.1.
