My Android tablet has power but the screen stays blank, what happened?

Android tablet has power but screen stays blank

Fixing an ezTab N-1465 for a friend. Was running except volume control was messed up. Did a reset from the Settings menu. Now there is a power light that comes on but the screen remains blank. I've tried all of the various reset instructions, volume button & power button, touch screen & power button, jump up and down on one foot & power button, etc. but no luck. Suggestions?

Welcome to Android Central! So prior to the reset, the screen worked fine, and everything else worked fine except for the volume? Chances are that it's bad firmware of bad hardware, which is common with off-brand budget devices. Not to be facetious, but my suggestion would be to get a device from a manufacturer with an established reputation for quality.
