Why is my screen black with no response?

Screen black, with no respond.

I dropped my Galaxy S3 and it is cracked a little, and there isn't a response either. I can turn it on and cant unlock it, just a black screen. Its a little crack so I don't think that it would of toasted it.

Welcome to Android Central! So you can hear the phone make sounds, or feel it vibrate, but there is nothing on the screen? The screen has been damaged from the fall. You don't have to see physical screen damage--the shock of impact can be enough to damage fragile components, or jar connections loose. All the more reason to invest in a good case! You'll have to bring the phone to a repair shop.
