Try Android Device Manager.

www.google.com/android/devicemanager

If left enabled by default in Device Administrators on your Tab, it should connect whenever the Tab is connected and preferably Location enabled.

Are you sure it was stolen and not left behind.
If it Locates your device straight away, well and dandy, you can then choose to Lock it while leaving a message and a phone # / email for the 'finder',

or Wipe the device if you are concerned about your contents and don't expect it back.
Wiping will lose everything, ie a factory reset.

Even if you don't Locate it, I was able to put a Lock and message on mine which activated when it was turned on several days later.

There's a few aspects of Android Device Manager I become less clear about the more I recommend it, but give it a try. When it works, it works well.
