    I don't want to root my phone is there any way to recover deleted photos?

    Not if the photos were in internal storage - the data the recovery app needs to recover them can only be gotten by a rooted app.

    If they were on the external SD card, put it into a card reader, plug that into a PC, download PhotoRec and burn it to a disk, boot the PC from the disk and tell it to recover files from the SD card. (PhotoRec recovers data, not files, so whether the card was formatted as FAT32, ext4 or some format used only on Mars, it'll recover anything recoverable (probably including some files you didn't know had been there and were deleted).
