Samsung Galaxy Note 3 screen black?

A

AC Question

This morning, I was jogging around the neighborhood and my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 fell out of my pocket. There was no case on it and when I picked it up, I didn't see a crack in the screen, but there was a pink line going straight across the top of the screen, and the screen was very dim.

I checked and made sure that the screen was still responsive, and it was, I was still able to open up apps, scroll through the phone, and even make calls. The screen started turning black in certain spots as I walked home, and by the time I got back (30 min) the entire screen was black. Also, the volume key on the left side was jammed in, and that's the side where the black spots began to spread first.

Do you know what could've happened? I'm not sure if its the screen that needs to be replaced or if its something else. Any help would be extremely appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! The screen needs to be replaced. There doesn't have to be a visible huge crack in order for the screen to be damaged. A drop on a hard surface causes a shock wave that can damage some of the sensitive internal components. A good case may have prevented this, so in the future, consider investing in one.
