How can I increase storage on my phone (Error: Insufficient Storage Available - Internal storage 1.8GB used and 256 MB free.)?

Error: Insufficient Storage Available - Internal storage 1.8GB used and 256 MB free.

How can I increase storage so I can add another app?
I get this message when trying to add another app on my android phone.
Can apps be added to a memory card? Would this help my problem?

if you're using an mtk device then you can do this by editing ebr files
