Why is there 1.8gb in misc files that I can't see?

AC Question

My sons Galaxy tab 3 keeps saying that his memory is full, he has 500mb free on his system, but it's says that there is almost 1.8gb in his misc files that I can't see anywhere.
Have tried downloading a file manager but now it won't download a 13.04mb file as there is not enough space?

Actually that isn't isn't much help.

You can tap Miscellaneous files in the Storage setting, and
Downloaded Apps in My Files, also open Used Space. Application data size in Used space includes stock apps, downloaded apps does not.

Miscellaneous files should list the usage by size, so you can work from there.
Many Miscellaneous files include data for stock apps like Notes etc. You should be able to delete items in Storage - Miscellaneous, or select and delete in My Files.

If you / he needs storage for apps, some app data can be moved to an sd card in General - Applications Manager - All/SD card list, tap each for App Info - Move to SD Card.

On Edit : also Cached data in Storage can build up to 500mb or more. You can tap to empty that without worry.
