rooted HTC M8, I want to refuse the android 5.0 software update and continue running 4.4.4 indefinitely if possible without nagging notifications.

I'm concerned about memory being depleted and also I generally don't care for the updated features. I like my notification bar the way it is.

I read somewhere that after rooting I could disable the app, "Updater"
After rooting I was disappointed to see that the "Disable" button is still greyed out and not functional, also the "Show notifications" check-box is checked and greyed out so I can't seem to change that either.
    Any advice?
    Thanks for your time.

The update will continue to fail on a rooted phone, so let it keep trying. Or you can use Link2SD to freeze the update app. Then it won't even see updates. (I'm at 4.4.2 on one phone and, for the Heartbleed fix, 4.4.4 on my other one, and Lollipops are for kids.)
