I don't think anyone has a definitive answer for you. It probably depends on your phone model.

As for me, my crystal ball fell off my desk and broke, so I have no idea when the update for my at&t Note 4 will come.

I would just prefer to have it released bug-free, so I will wait (somewhat) patiently.

It's AT&T....you'll be waiting quite awhile as AT&T has more bloatware than anyone and they need to test Lollipop on their bloatware.

of course that just may be my rage talking

Let's hope never, since it's been 2 bug fixes since 5.0 (5.0.2 is current) and there are still bugs. (And on most phones, all you get is Material Design - which I wouldn't want on my phone anyway.)
