Why does my Nexus 7 power down at 60 power?

Nexus 7 powers down on 60% power

My 2 year old nexus 7 powers down when the battery charge shows 60%. it reboots ok after charging. How can I tell if my battery is ok I don't want to but a new one if the problem is something else. Can anyone help please?

It could be a faulty battery....one of the dendritic shorts, perhaps, that Rukbat mentions here:

Better get it tested.
