why can't i hear anything when i make a call or pick a call on my htc one XL phone

i'm able to make calls on viber but not normall calls as calling friends and family. i really need help

Welcome to Android Central! Viber calls are made over the web rather than your voice signal, so there may be a problem with the latter. Have you asked your carrier about this problem?
