htc m8 keyboard not showing

Since latest update my HTC m8s keyboard won't show up occasionally when tapping on text boxes. Restarting fix's the issue but some help would be appreciated.

Re: htc m8 keyboard not showing

If the keyboard starts having problems the first thing to do would be downloading a new one from the Play Store. This way you avoid a big problem if the stock one stops working.

In this thread you can read some tips to download a keyboard even if you have none.

Clearing the app cache could help, and after a system update you should consider wiping the cache partition on recovery mode.

Ive got this same annoying problem. I thought it may have to do with SwiftKey, but when i switch over to the standard keyboard in my settings, it still will not pop up and a hard restart is necessary. Also, since this update my phone will randomly freeze and restart on its own.

I've had this same intermittent problem with my M8 for a while, but has become more and more frequent after recently updating to Lollipop 5.0.1. Any fixes for this? Having to constantly reboot is a real nuisance, especially if you've just found the page you've been hunting for, or mid PM conversation and suddenly the keyboard disappears!!
I would download another keyboard and abandon the stock version, if only I could search the Market...!!

Re: htc m8 keyboard not showing

I have had the same issue since updating. It does it on the HTC keyboard as well as SwiftKey. Htc has no clue and never heard of this issue. They set a commitment call back to have a specialist look into it, but no call yet. Hopefully someone will have a fix and soon.

This started randomly happening to me too, only change I made in my daily usage was switching from Dolphin Browser to Chrome brower. So me thinks it has something to do with lollipop and chrome.

What browser are you guys using?

Same thing happens to me. I'm using chrome but its not just trying to type in chrome. Won't work with text or other apps either. I don't like the htc keyboard so I use Google keyboard and still having the same issue as everyone else so seems to not be specific to one keyboard.

I have been having this problem for about a year now. It just keeps getting worse. For this very reason I will, once again, be an iPhone user in about two months. It just isn't right; having to restart my phone a couple of times each day just so I can get the on-screen keyboard to pull up. Hate that my phone will no longer be synched with my Chrome laptop, but a girl needs to be able to to use her keyboard!

Me and my gifriend both have an M8 and we both experience keyboard-crashes. A reboot does fix it but is quite annoying. For me it occurs an a weekly basis buy her phone does it almost daily.
I hope there will be a solution for this soon.

I've been having the same issue. Rebooting resolves it for some time.

I just had it happen again a few minutes ago. I ended up closing all apps and voila...the keyboard started working again. That's the first time I tried that approach, but beats having to reboot--which seems to be taking longer than it used to.
