When I type something into the Google search bar on the home screen of Galaxy 3 nothing happens.

When I type something into the Google search bar on my Galaxy 3 nothing happens. The screen stays white with the word in the search field. I get the tabs: web, images, etc, along the bottom, but the screen stays white, like it is not connecting to the internet. I have no problem using the internet (world) icon to get to the internet, but using the Google search bar is not working. It has worked before so I know it can work. I am not sure if I have accidentally changed a setting that is prohibiting this feature to work. Help!

Welcome to Android Central. I would try clearing the cache for Google Search. Go to Settings>Application Manager>scroll down to Google Search, and click on it. Then, click clear cache.
