how can I turn off my Samsung Stellar SCH1200 when it freezes on?

I will push the power button and the screen remains lit. Nor will any other functions on the phone work. Plugging it in to recharge it does not change the situation. I can hold the power button in for over a minute and nothing happens.

Welcome to Android Central! In that situation, the only thing to do is pull the battery, wait 10 seconds, then reinsert it and power back on.
