I have a samsung galaxy ring and the settings permanently do not work. I have tried restarting the device but when it turns back on, it tells me right away that the settings have failed. I would try to factory reset the device but in order to do so, I would have to go through the settings, which I obviously am unable to do.

Are there any other ways that I can fix this problem? Or is all hope lost for this phone?

Welcome to Android Central! Try booting into Recovery Mode and wiping the cache partition, which won't erase any personal data. Follow the steps in this video, but instead of selecting Wipe Data/Factory Reset, make sure you select Wipe Cache Partition. When complete, then select Reboot System Now.

If that doesn't help, you can do a factory reset from the Recovery Menu as well.
