I receive alerts for specific server events using att sms gateway which seems to assign random numbers to the text that are sent out. I have hundreds of texts from 141 , 121, numbers where the number will be 1210100096, 12100095 , etc etc. Is there a way to delete these texts programmaticly? It appears that with android 4.4 and above only the default sms app can delete text messages. Is this true? Any suggestions? Thanks!

You an use call/text blockers to block those numbers (and add the new numbers as you receive them) to no longer get the alerts. Or, you'll have to long press on the contact number thread and select delete from the pop-up menu.
