Why won't my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 charge at all?

My Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 won't charge at all.

I have tried 2 different wall blocks and cords but the tablet won't start charging. Does anybody know a way I could fix it without buying a new one?

It could be that the charging port became loose inside - that would require having it resoldered or replaced. Or it could be that the battery is totally dead (that shouldn't happen - the tab should turn off before that happens) and it would need a new battery. Neither repair is going to cost anything near the price of a new one.
