blue signal vs. white signal

I have an android 4.1.2. When the wifi bars at the top are white, it seems i can not access the network/internet. When they are blue, everything works fine. Can you give me more information as to what the actual problem could be, or what the white bars actually mean?

Re: blue signal vs. white signal

Welcome to Android Central! With Jellybean, a white (or grey) wi-fi icon means that you don't have a valid connection to the Google servers. This could be due to a problematic wi-fi connection or to issues with the Google server. Is this happening only with one wi-fi network?
