Why am i unable to open setting or the gallery on my Galaxy S5?

[AC Question]

Galaxy S5. cant open settings or gallery..maybe others.

When ever I try to open settings I get the message. "unfortunately settings has stopped" I also get this message about Gallery even when Im not trying to open gallery. May have others but Im so irritated I miss what they are.
My phone upgraded about a week ago and seemed to stop in the middle of upgrade. Hasn't functioned properly since.
Im at the point of throwing it out a window, Have taken the battery out,, SD card out ect.. Im not a tech type person. .
Any help will be very appreciated.

Have you cleared the cache in Settings, Storage, Cached Data?

Im not sure how. If it requires me to go into settings to do this, then I cant. everytime I try opening setting I get the message. If theres another way in PLEASE let me know.

Welcome to Android Central.

I occasionally get Settings has stopped but for a very short period.

You can do the same as above in Recovery Mode with power off.
I'm not sure it helps much but here it is:
Power + Volume Up + Home key - Recovery screen (Green Android - blue list) scroll down to Wipe Cache Partition with Volume key - select with Power key' reboot when highlighted.
Very safe to do, and recommended to do every so often. If you accidentally select Wipe Data/Factory Reset there are further safeguards.

Have you disabled any system apps?
