Weird 'stop' sign

Just updated to Lollipop on my 2nd gen Moto G. Noticed that sometimes apps won't launch from the home screen or apps screen but will start from the 'running apps' list. At the top of the notification area there is a sort of stop sign (a circle with a diagonal line) that doesn't show anything in the notification area or go away if I restart - screenshot attached.

Any thoughts?

Some sort of Quiet Mode, possibly, or Do Not Interrupt? Try looking in Sounds & Notifications.
