I know S5 active are "waterproof" but will it hold up ok in the sauna? My main concern is the how the heat will affect the phone.

Don't take it into a sauna, unless you want to risk wrecking it. But it's your phone....

It's not waterproof, it's water resistant. Calling it waterproof is like saying that a battleship is submersible. It is, but not in working condition.

It's protected against water at room temperature (+/- what you're comfortable in) at a pressure of (IIRC) 1 meter for 30 minutes, assuming that all ports are still good and are closed.

It's not protected against either steam or water vapor. It's not protected against 120F water. And the warranty is void if the inside gets wet. (A waterproof phone warranty would cover water damage unless you opened the case, or exceeded the specs [like taking it with you on a 200 foot dive in the ocean].)

And it's not both water- and impact-resistant at the same time. Dropping it onto wet concrete (say the walkway around a swimming pool) can pop a seal on the battery cover, letting in enough water to destroy the phone. (Again - water damage isn't covered.)
