I have a Motorola Moto G (2nd Generation) running Android 4.4.4. For the last couple of weeks, the phone has been asking me to upgrade to Android 5.0 Lollipop. However, for various reasons, I don't want to upgrade right now.

Everytime I choose the "No, maybe later" option when the phone asks me to upgrade, the message goes away but then comes back after a couple of hours. This is obviously getting very annoying and I'd like some way of making this upgrade message go away permanently until such time as I decide that I want to upgrade. I'd rather upgrade when I want to upgrade rather than letting my phone annoy me into doing it :-)

Is there a way to make this message go away permanently?

    Thanks.

Welcome to Android Central! Usually, the only way to do it is to root the device and freeze the system updater app (which can go by various names, depending on the device).
