If the email account is Gmail or other account that is in: Settings > Accounts just have the account on both devices and go to: Settings > Accounts > Select account > Sync > Sync email. Depending on the email app you use, in the app you can probably set sync to run at specified times or sync manually.

If it's a private domain email account and is IMAP service just setup the account in the email app on both devices. Then set sync to run automatically at the times you prefer or you can sync manually.

POP3 email does not support sync.
