Why does my Moto X turn back on when I turn it off to charge it?

I turn the phone off so it will charge faster and it turns back on. Isnt there a way to charge it when it's turned off?

If you turn it all the way off using the power button it can't really turn itself back on. Try pressing the power button until it shuts off or you get a prompt to power off.
