I have an LG3 and my phone automatically downloaded the new Lollipop update and I hate it, especially the retarded home button-shapes. Is there any way to change this back to the more conventional buttons or get rid of Lollipop entirely without affecting the performance of my phone?

Welcome to Android Central! In order to downgrade, you'd have to root the phone and flash the stock KitKat ROM.

If you just want to change the appearance of the navigation buttons, you would still have to root, then install Xposed Framework: Install the Xposed Framework on Your Rooted LG G3 for 100s of Fast & Easy Mods « LG G3
