Last night I needed to talk to a friend on Facebook on my Galaxy S5 and I didn't have his phone number. So I installed the Facebook Messenger app. A few minutes ago when I pulled my phone out of my pocket, I could feel the heat radiating off of it through an Otterbox Defender series case. I quickly took the case off and removed the Messenger app--my phone has since cooled down significantly back to its normal temperature.

With all that said, has anyone ever experienced this issue or anything like it?

    Thanks for any/all responses!

If you had the app running all night (long-press the home key, then press the little circle at the left), it could cause a bit of heat, because it drains a bit more battery power. If it's just installed but not running? No.
