Why does My galaxy note 3 only work when plugged in?

I will have my phone on the charger. It will say 100% and then when I take it off the charger and go to touch the screen it shuts off and starts to reboot but wont turn all the way on unless I plug it back into the charger?

If you've checked that the battery contacts are good I don't see that there's much else you can do yourself except try a battery which you know to be good.
