Why can't I unlock my screen?

can't unlock my screen

Hey, my keyboard doesn't show up after I restarted my phone and now I'm unable to use it as it's password protected. I got some HTC sense not responding errors but, after multiple restarts is still the same. Can you please help me with a solution?

Welcome to Android Central! Is it set to password unlock? So all you see is the password entry field, but if you tap it, the keyboard doesn't show up? Does the touchscreen respond to anything at all? If not, the digitizer might have failed.

I was just about to reply that if you set a new pin lock on Android Device Manager, though it's worded as a password, you will get a dialpad screen rather than a keyboard to enter (I think). You could then remove a secure lock and work on bringing back the default keyboard or install a new one via the Play Store on a pc.

Thanks so much for your replies! After lots of restarts and power off /power on ( not that would be a big difference) I managed to get a reset to factory settings and I was able to get into my phone. For sure I will not lock my screen with a password from now on

Glad it's working again! Although I wouldn't necessarily avoid screen locks, because security is still important. You might consider something that doesn't require a keyboard, like pattern unlock.
