Kies has been updating on my phone for more than 2 hours. Can I stop it now?

Kies updateing my phone for more than 2 hours. can I stop it now

I updated Kies today and tried to update my Samsung Galaxy s GT-I9000. I did this because the phone was playing up and also Kies said there are updates available. I have not updated the phone for the last 3 years. twice Kies asked me to recharge the phone due to low battery. I disconnect and allowed some time for recharging before connecting again. 3rd time it went through connection and now it is showing a working android sign on the mobile while asking me not to turn off target. The Software update progress window is stock on 0% and can't be close. I don't think any of these is right. so what can I do please?

Leave it overnight. If you pull the plug now, and it started to update (it doesn't seem to have even started to download the file, though), you might have to reflash the ROM (which isn't as scary as it sounds - see [Samsung] How to flash Stock ROM via ODIN.)
