Why does my battery drain so quickly?

battery seems to be draining very quickly

I have a galaxy tab 3 8 inch. Recently the battery doesn't seem to be lasting as long as it should. It seemed to develop a fault a while back where i would put in on charge and the battery would charge to full very quickly. But when i came to use it the battery rapidly dropped. It doesnt seem to be doing that anymore but the battery doesnt seem to be lasting as long as it used to. I watched a movie the other day from fully charged and it didn't even last the whole movie.

I emailed samsung support as it is still under warranty. They recommended doing a factory reset in case there are any conflicting software issues. Could this solve the problem? Should i not bother with the reset and just tell them i did it and then i can just send it off for repair? Or is it worth doing the reset

It sounds to me like a faulty battery but I imagine that Samsung know very very much more about these things than I do so yes, try the reset. Back up everything you can first.
