When I receive a call, my phone doesn't always ring. Just now for instance, I was listening to some audio when it suddenly stopped playing. I looked at the screen and discovered I had missed a call. I picked the phone up to try and call back when the person called again. This time the phone rang. Often when I take the phone out of my pocket, I discover that I have missed a call.

Welcome to Android Central! There could be an app that is causing interference, but it can be difficult to pinpoint which one. You could try booting into Safe Mode first, and seeing if the problem persists. If the problem disappears in Safe Mode, then something you installed is causing the problem. You may have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem disappears. If the problem persists in Safe Mode, then it's more likely to be a hardware or firmware problem. Steps are at the bottom of this article: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-5744.

Another thing to try is to wipe the cache partition, which is also described in that article.
