How can I receive emails via Office365 w/out my POP and IMAP emails being deleted?

I just joined a company that uses Office 365. When I sought to have emails come to my personal device (Samsung S2), the "Activation" section indicated that - among other controls - Exchange Server has the authority to delete my POP/IMAP emails. Has anyone else had problems with this? Why the need to have such total control, when all I want is to be able to read and answer emails?

Because the company can. They can monitor your emails, phone calls, trips to the bathroom - anything. They own you during business hours (and some companies claim that they can control any aspect of your personal life that has any bearing on the company, and the courts have agreed - for example, if you smoke at home, that may increase their insurance costs, so they can fire you for cause).

Can you find a job with a sane company, or are you stuck with that job?
