What phone do you have? Provide us with the model number and we'll see if it's compatible with AT&T's data network. Not all GSM phones are compatible with AT&T's LTE network. For example, if the device is from T-Mobile it will work on AT&T if unlocked, but will not be able to take full advantage of AT&T's data network. The same is true for AT&T devices on T-Mobile.

Just got home from the AT&T store. It is a really good fake. Thats what I get for looking on Craigslist. Thanks for your response.
