I found an older version of this same issue dating back to 2012 but with all the replies and the time since then... is there a way to get the phone to show up on my mac like it does on windows? The windows machine is a netbook with limited memory. I was wanting to transfer to the mac but also be able to just scan/snap a few things while connected and access them from the mac just like a usb drive.

I'm running the crappiest mac OS ever created - yosemite. It really is NOT kind to owners of older macs (something Apple built its reputation on, loyalty and the reliability of macs, you could use old models forever).

But for now I have the sg3, android version whatever was last to update, and the crap-mac yosemite.

I don't want that root thing whatever that was. Is there an app that does this now?

They also said, back in the days of the original Mac, that they'd never break your software. "Never" ended around 2002.

You could use WiFi File Explorer and/or WiFi File Transfer. You use any web browser on the Mac to access the phone via wifi. No root.
