I've got one of those cheap, generic 7" Ebay tablets that shipped with ICS. It has 512 MB of ram, a 1.2 GHz Dual core Allwinner A13, which match the spec requirements of Kitkat. I've been wanting to flash it to 4.4, but I don't know if anyone's ever developed a custom rom for it. In short, is there any possible way to flash it to 4.4?

Edit: It has to be possible for the tab to run Kitkat, looking now, the same device is being sold with 4.4.

If the same device is being sold/shipped with 4.4 then there should be an update. Go to system settings > about tablet > software updates. If not, then you should contact the manufacturer to see if you can update the tablet, and if possible, how you can go about doing that. If that doesn't work then you will need to root and install a custom ROM, if available, to get 4.4 onto the device. Since I have not seen anything for that device, I'm not you'll be able to go that route.

Hopefully the manufacturer can assist with updating.

    Yeah, that's a problem.

Because this tablet is basically faceless in terms of branding, there's no way I'll be able to find the original manufacturer. Even if I did, I don't think they'd be very helpful considering there's no update and I don't think they want me to root it because of "warranty issues".

And KitKat running in 512GB of RAM, while possible, is like a VW bug hauling large trees. "Possible" and "works smoothly" aren't the same thing.

If you get a KitKat ROM for it, make sure you have an ICS ROM to flash, in case KitKat runs like a man with both feet in the grave.

Possible, but not logical. Still haven't found that ROM.
