After doing a little reading online about selling your phone on Ebay, it seems like first encrypting the device then factory resetting it is the proper and most secure way to prep the phone for selling.

Are these two steps enough, or should more be done? Is the phone truly safe from potential recoveries/other means of data harvesting? Thanks

If I were selling one,I'd root it, then run dd with random as the if and the data partition as the of. Then encrypt it, then factory reset it, then run dd again, then reset it. I don't think even the NSA could get anything after that. It's about as effective as roasting the phone in an induction furnace, except that the phone will still work.
