When I charge my phone, the battery icon doesn't change unless I restart the phone after charging why?

when i charge my phone, the battery icon doesn't change unless i restart the phone after charging

When I connect my phone to a charger, it won't charge unless I restart the phone after I connect the charger. Once it has fully charged, the battery icon doesn't change to reflect the actual charge unless I once again restart the phone after it is disconnected. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Can you tell us which model phone you have, how old it is, are you using an OEM battery or 3rd party battery and are you using the OEM Charger. It could be a combination of issues related to that. Please offer more info so we can help.
