I'm using an S3 mini and have been having a problem with my proximity sensor. I've seen a lot of people complaining that theirs will not turn off and their screen stays blank. I'm having the opposite problem, my proximity sensor won't turn on during calls which is causing them to become muted/dropped because the movement of my jaw while talking pushes buttons.

Try this to see if you can diagnose whether your sensor is is working properly,

Surpisingly enough if your sensor is dirty it may be affecting this issue. You would think that it would have to be really dirty to affect it but some of these sensors are sensitive enough that a small amount of grim, makeup, or facial oil can affect them. If your sensor thinks it is dark when you answer the phone it may not react when it truely is dark causing the screen to stay on.
