Why has my voice recorder stopped using mp3 files and now uses amr?

Until very recently, my SGS3 phone used to record audio as MP3 files but now uses AMR. I did not change the settings. How do I change it back? Was it because I had the phone cable-connected to my laptop that it changed the recording format?

Same here on my SGS5 it saves them as amr instead of mp3, but it should still play the recording by the music player.
