How do I increase the number of rings before forwarding to voice mail

my phone cuts off after two rings. How do I increase this to 8 rings

That's a function of your carrier, not your device. You'll have to check with your carrier as to how to change it. Typically though, you can usually call your own voice mail and use the menu options to change it. Some of carriers like VZW allow you change it via their website.

Many allow the time before voicemail, not the number of rings, so you have to know the timing in your country. In the US, it's 5 seconds per ring cycle, so if you want 5 rings it should be about 28 seconds (to allow for some slop, add a couple of seconds, so it won't switch before that number of rings, but will switch before the one after the last one you want).
