why does my battery drain so fast sometimes?

I own an samsung sgh-1577 and some times it drains very fast. I have power saver set, I turned off blue tooth, gps, and locator. I turn off the screen but some times I feel the phone getting warm in my pocket. This does not happen often but when it does the only thing that seems to work is shutting if down and rebooting.

Given this phone came with Gingerbread OS 2.3 which is pretty old, when was the last time you replaced the battery? Also there are some apps like Greenify https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...d=com.oasisfeng.greenify&hl=en&token=-sOJvRMq that can tell you what apps are eating your battery up so you can adjust your settings or curb the notifications. Ditto that! I had same problem and replaced battery, problem all solved.
