Why can't I download and read messages from my daughter's iPhone?

[AC Question]

My daughter has iPhone, I have a Galaxy S5. I have never had an iPhone. When my daughter sends me a text, I see it as a message that needs to be downloaded, but when I click the Download button, it just spins, and never downloads.

I went to the Apple site, and checked my AppleID, there is no mobile phone associated with that account, just my land line.

This is the first "smart" phone I have ever had, so I don't know where to begin to troubleshoot this.

Welcome to Android Central! Do you have your mobile data (3G/4G) turned on? If your daughter is sending photos, they get sent as MMS, which requires mobile data (not voice signal or wi-fi).
